Daikin Industries Ltd.

A maker of heating and cooling systems, Daikin is one of the world's largest manufacturers of air conditioners, heat pumps, and refrigerants, selling under its own name and the Goodman brand. Founded in 1924 in Osaka as a metalworking shop that made radiator tubes for aircraft, it launched Japan's first packaged air conditioner in 1951. Its name comes from the first characters of 'Osaka' and 'metal' in its original Japanese name, and it remains the only company that makes both air-conditioning hardware and the refrigerants inside them.
