A British supermarket giant and one of the world's largest retailers, Tesco runs grocery stores across the UK and several other countries, selling food, household goods, and its own F&F clothing line alongside own-brand ranges like Tesco Finest. It began in 1919 when Jack Cohen sold war-surplus groceries from a market stall in London's East End. The name "Tesco" was coined in 1924 by combining the initials of tea supplier Thomas Edward Stockwell with the first two letters of Cohen's surname.
