Sega Sammy Holdings Inc.
A Japanese entertainment conglomerate born from a 2004 merger between arcade-game icon Sega and pachinko-machine maker Sammy Corporation. Through Sega it makes and publishes games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Football Manager and Phantasy Star Online 2 for consoles, PCs and mobile, alongside arcade machines and animation; through Sammy it builds pachinko and pachislot machines that fill amusement halls across Japan. The name "Sammy" comes from founder Hajime Satomi's surname, and the company's roots trace back to a 1965 amusement business that he spun off into a machine maker in 1975.
