Beazley Plc
A British specialist insurer and reinsurer that underwrites complex, unusual risks through the Lloyd's of London market — from cyber attacks and marine cargo to political upheaval and large commercial property. It was founded in 1986 by Andrew Beazley and Nicholas Furlonge as an underwriting agency called Beazley, Furlonge & Hiscox, which the pair later bought out. The company famously started with little more than a couple of second-hand desks and a handsome old hat stand.
