Sk Hynix Inc.
A maker of memory chips, SK Hynix produces the DRAM and NAND flash memory found inside computers, smartphones, and data-center servers. It began in 1983 as Hyundai Electronics, part of the giant Hyundai conglomerate, and was renamed Hynix in 2001 after splitting off; the name blends "Hyundai" with "nix," a nod to the Unix operating system. In 2012 the SK Group bought the company, giving it the SK Hynix name it carries today.
