Danske Bank A/s
A major Nordic bank headquartered in Copenhagen, Danske Bank handles everyday banking, mortgages, investments, pensions, and insurance for households and businesses across the region, and is behind the popular MobilePay money-transfer app. It began in 1871 as the Danish Farmers' Bank, founded by Hartvig Gedalia, a saddle maker turned stockbroker who wanted to help farmers get credit. For over a century it was simply called Landmandsbanken ("The Farmers' Bank") before renaming to Den Danske Bank in 1976.
