One of the Asia-Pacific region's largest investor-owned power companies, CLP Holdings generates, transmits, distributes, and sells electricity, powering most of Hong Kong's homes and businesses through stations like Castle Peak and Black Point. It began in 1901 as the China Light & Power Company Syndicate, when electricity was still a novelty, and the Kadoorie family took control in the 1930s. A fun detail: the CLP logo is drawn to form the Chinese character 中 (Zhong), meaning "China" or "central."
