Safran SA
A French aerospace and defense powerhouse that builds aircraft engines, landing gear, and cabin interiors. Its CFM joint venture with GE makes the LEAP engines powering many Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX jets. Formed in 2005 from the merger of engine-maker Snecma (roots back to 1905) and electronics firm Sagem, its name is the French word for the spice saffron—though the stylized "S" in its logo is meant to evoke a spinning propeller.
