Ono Pharmaceutical Co Ltd
A research-driven Japanese drugmaker based in Osaka that develops medicines for cancer, immunology, and neurology. Its flagship product is Opdivo, an immune-checkpoint cancer treatment co-developed with Bristol Myers Squibb. The company traces its roots to 1717, when Ichibei Ono I opened an apothecary called Fushimiya Ichibei in Osaka's Doshomachi district — the same family name that still heads the firm today.
