A San Diego-based company that makes messenger RNA (mRNA) medicines and vaccines, including a COVID-19 vaccine and experimental treatments for rare diseases. Founded in 2013 by two scientists, it is named after Arcturus, the brightest star in the constellation Boötes, whose Greek name means "Guardian of the Bear." Its delivery platform, called LUNAR, is designed to carry RNA molecules safely into human cells.
