A biotech company developing single-dose gene-editing medicines meant to lower cholesterol and prevent heart disease, aiming to replace lifelong daily pills with one permanent treatment. It was founded in 2018 by cardiologist-geneticist Sekar Kathiresan, who named it after a personal loss: his brother died of a heart attack at 42, and he set out to "turn that negative energy into Verve." The company was acquired by Eli Lilly in 2025.
