3iq Coinshares Bitcoin ETF
A Canadian exchange-traded fund that gives everyday investors a regulated way to own bitcoin through the stock market, without setting up a digital wallet. Launched on the Toronto Stock Exchange in 2021, it's run by 3iQ Corp, founded in 2012 by Fred Pye, who spent years convincing regulators that a public bitcoin fund was possible — he was told he was "from Mars" for even suggesting it. The ETF was born from a partnership with the global digital asset firm CoinShares, whose name it carries.
