A maker of non-invasive medical devices for diagnosing sleep apnea and heart conditions, Itamar Medical's WatchPAT is worn on the wrist like a watch and reads fingertip blood-flow signals. Founded in the late 1990s by Giora Yaron and Peretz Lavie, the Israeli company was named after Giora's brother Itamar, who was killed in the Yom Kippur War while rescuing an injured soldier. The company was acquired by ZOLL Medical in 2021.
