Longview Acquisition Corp.
A blank-check company (a SPAC) that raised money through an IPO to merge with a private business and take it public, it joined with Butterfly Network, a digital health firm behind the Butterfly iQ, a pocket-sized, smartphone-connected ultrasound. Longview was launched in 2020 by an affiliate of the New York hedge fund Glenview Capital Management and, after the merger in early 2021, the combined company kept the name Butterfly Network and listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The ultrasound's inventor, Dr. Jonathan Rothberg, was inspired to make imaging portable after his daughter was born with a condition requiring frequent scans.
