Wirecard AG
A German digital payments company that processed credit and debit card transactions for merchants, issued payment cards through its banking arm, and operated in dozens of countries. Founded in 1999 in a Munich suburb by Markus Braun and Arndt Roller, it got its name by combining "wire" (electronic money transfer) with "card" (payment cards). In its early years it specialized in processing payments for high-risk industries like online gambling that traditional banks refused to serve.
