Fidelity Government Cash Reserves
A money market mutual fund that serves as the default "parking spot" for uninvested cash in Fidelity brokerage accounts, buying short-term U.S. government securities and repurchase agreements to keep shareholders' money safe and liquid. Launched in 1979 as Fidelity Cash Reserves, it was renamed Fidelity Government Cash Reserves in 2015 when it shifted to a government money market fund. Though most owners never open its fact sheet, the fund quietly does constant "portfolio work," rolling over Treasury bills and overnight repurchase agreements as interest rates move.
