Fanuc Corporation
A maker of the bright yellow robots that assemble cars and electronics on factory floors around the world, Fanuc also builds the computer numerical control (CNC) systems and factory-automation gear that run those machines. The name is short for "Fuji Automatic Numerical Control," reflecting its start in 1956 as a spin-off project within Fujitsu, led by engineer Seiuemon Inaba near Mount Fuji. Its robots' signature safety-yellow paint doubles as instant brand recognition on assembly lines worldwide.
