A special purpose acquisition company, or "blank check" shell, created in 2019 by KSL Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on travel and leisure, to raise money and merge with an operating business. In May 2021 it completed that deal, combining with Blade Urban Air Mobility, an app-based platform that books short helicopter and seaplane flights between Manhattan and airports like JFK and Newark, and the merged company took the name Blade Air Mobility. The "Experience" name reflected its sponsor's focus on the travel and leisure sector.
