Acadian Asset Management Inc.
A Boston-based investment firm that uses computers, data, and mathematical models to build stock and multi-asset portfolios for pension funds, insurers, and other big institutional clients. It traces its roots to 1977, when Gary Bergstrom set up Acadian Financial Research to manage money for State Street, and it became an independent firm in 1986. Its name comes from Acadia, the historical name for a swath of northeastern North America near its hometown.
