A special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC — a "blank check" firm with no operations of its own, formed to raise money and merge with a private business to take it public. Sponsored by the West Palm Beach investment firm Colonnade Capital, it went public in 2021 and planned to combine with Plastiq, a payment platform for small businesses, but the deal fell through and the company liquidated in 2023. Its name comes from the architectural term for a row of columns.
