A maker of cigarettes and other nicotine products, British American Tobacco sells well-known brands like Lucky Strike, Dunhill, Kent, Pall Mall, and Camel around the world. It was born in 1902 when Britain's Imperial Tobacco and America's American Tobacco Company agreed to stop fighting over each other's home turf and instead pooled their overseas operations into one joint venture. The company's name literally reflects that transatlantic handshake, and it has grown into one of the world's largest tobacco businesses.
