Rosetta Resources Inc.

An independent oil and gas exploration company based in Houston, Rosetta Resources drilled for oil and natural gas in two of America's richest basins, the Eagle Ford Shale of South Texas and the Permian Basin of West Texas. It was born in 2005 as a spinoff when power giant Calpine sold off its drilling assets. Its name nods to the Rosetta Stone, the ancient artifact that unlocked Egyptian hieroglyphs—a fitting image for a firm that helped unlock hard-to-reach shale energy.
