A maker of heavy-duty starters and alternators, Remy International builds and rebuilds the electrical parts that get commercial trucks, buses, and farm machinery running under the Delco Remy brand. It traces back to 1896, when brothers Frank and Perry Remy started a home wiring business in a tiny shack in Anderson, Indiana, then pivoted to making ignition systems for early cars. The company took its name straight from those brothers, and its magnetos once powered early Buicks.
