Texas Industries Inc.

A maker of cement, concrete, aggregates, and steel used in roads, bridges, and buildings across the American Southwest, Texas Industries was headquartered in Dallas and supplied builders with everything from ready-mix concrete to the stone beneath their feet. It grew out of the Texas Lightweight Aggregate Company, founded in 1946 during the postwar building boom, and was formally organized as Texas Industries in 1951 by Ralph B. Rogers, a former president of the Cummins Diesel Engine Company. In 2014 the company was absorbed into Martin Marietta Materials, one of the largest construction-materials firms in the country.
