A medical-technology company that makes wearable heart monitors that patients wear at home while their heart rhythms are watched around the clock by staff in a remote monitoring center. Its best-known product, MCOT, is a small chest sensor that beams ECG data wirelessly so doctors can catch irregular heartbeats like atrial fibrillation. It started in 1994 in San Diego as CardioNet and rebranded to BioTelemetry in 2013, blending "bio" with "telemetry" (remote data transmission). In 2021 it was folded into Philips' connected-care division.
