A video game publisher behind Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch, and Hearthstone, played by millions on consoles and computers. It was born from a 2008 merger of Activision, founded in 1979 as the world's first independent third-party game maker (created by four former Atari programmers), and Blizzard Entertainment, which began in 1991 under the name Silicon & Synapse. Fun fact: that original name confused so many people — some mistook "Synapse" for "silicone" — that the founders changed it to Blizzard.
