Myokardia, Inc.
A biotech company that developed medicines for inherited heart muscle diseases called cardiomyopathies, including a drug known as mavacamten for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which thickens and stiffens the heart muscle. Founded in 2012 out of research by Stanford scientist James Spudich and colleagues, its name fuses "myo" (muscle) with "cardia" (heart). The company was acquired by Bristol Myers Squibb in 2020.
