Bats Global Markets, Inc.
A stock exchange operator that ran the BZX, BYX, EDGA and EDGX exchanges in the US, along with European and options markets used by traders to buy and sell stocks. It was founded in 2005 in Lenexa, Kansas, by computer programmer Dave Cummings, who wanted to challenge the NYSE and NASDAQ. Its name is an acronym for "Better Alternative Trading System," and in 2017 it was bought by Cboe, which soon began pronouncing itself "See-bo."
