Accelrys, Inc.

A maker of scientific software for researchers in chemistry, biology, and materials science, Accelrys built tools like Pipeline Pilot, Discovery Studio, and Materials Studio that helped pharmaceutical and industrial labs model molecules and manage research data. The company was born in 2001 from a merger of five scientific software firms, including Oxford Molecular and the Genetics Computer Group. Its name plays on "accelerating" discovery, and after being bought by French 3D-design giant Dassault Systèmes in 2014, it was rebranded as BIOVIA.
