Manitex International, Inc.
A maker of lifting equipment, Manitex International builds boom trucks, knuckle-boom cranes, and rough-terrain cranes used on construction sites, bridges, and energy projects around the world. It grew out of the Manitowoc Company's boom-truck line, and the name "Manitex" is a shorthand mashup of "Manitowoc" and "boom trucks." The company took its modern shape in 2003, when three crane makers merged, and became independent in the early 2000s after starting as a division of a larger industrial firm.
