Fts International, Inc.
A maker of hydraulic fracturing (fracking) equipment and well-completion services for the oil and gas industry, FTS International grew into one of North America's largest fracking firms, designing and building much of its own equipment. It was founded in 2002 in Texas by brothers Farris and Dan Wilks, who started as stone masons before using what they learned about heavy machinery to launch the company, originally named Frac Tech Services. The Wilks brothers once lived in a goat shed as children before rising to become billionaires in the fracking business.
