Independence Holding Company

A Stamford, Connecticut insurer that underwrites, administers, and distributes specialty benefit policies—disability, supplemental health, and group life insurance—for individuals, small businesses, and employers. Founded in 1980, it takes its name from a flexible structure that manages its regulated insurance subsidiaries independently. It once ran a pet insurance division through PetPartners before selling that arm in 2021, then merged into Geneve Holdings in 2022.
