Amreit, Inc.

A Houston-based real estate investment trust that bought, ran, and redeveloped shopping centers in upscale urban neighborhoods across Texas and Atlanta, including the well-known Uptown Park in Houston. Founded in 1985, its name blends "American" with "REIT," the acronym for real estate investment trust. The company went public in 2012 and was later acquired by the retail landlord EDENS, which closed the deal in 2015.
