Brookfield Residential Properties Inc.
A North American land developer and homebuilder, Brookfield Residential buys and prepares land to create large master-planned communities, building and selling single-family homes, townhomes, and luxury residences while also selling prepared lots to other builders. It was formed in 2011 by merging Brookfield Homes with the residential division of Brookfield Office Properties, and traces its "Brookfield" brand to the company's commercial property unit. A fun detail: its parent company's roots go back to an 1899 Brazilian electric power company, and the firm now shapes whole neighborhoods in dozens of markets across the US and Canada.
