Ameristar Casinos Inc
A regional American casino company that ran a string of riverboat and land-based casinos, including the Cactus Petes and Horseshu in Jackpot, Nevada. It traces back to 1954, when operators pushed slot machines just across the Idaho border into Nevada after Idaho banned casino gaming, and was built into a corporation by Craig Neilsen, who took over his father's properties in 1971. The town of Jackpot got its name only after a friendly spat between the two rival casinos, which finally agreed on it in 1959.
