Excel Trust, Inc.
A real estate investment trust based in San Diego that owned and managed shopping centers across the United States, from community and power centers to neighborhood malls anchored by grocery stores and other everyday retailers. It was founded in 2009 by Gary Sabin, a veteran who started in commercial real estate in 1978, and the "Excel" name carried on from his earlier ventures including Excel Realty Trust. The company went public in 2010 and was acquired by Blackstone in 2015.
