Surmodics Inc
An Eden Prairie, Minnesota maker of medical devices and coatings, Surmodics gives catheters and balloons a slippery, drug-delivering surface so they glide through blood vessels and help clear blockages. Founded in 1979 as BSI Corporation and renamed in 1997 after "surface modification," it also builds its own products, like the SurVeil drug-coated balloon. Its coatings helped power the world's first drug-eluting coronary stent.
