Calyxt, Inc.
An agricultural biotechnology company that used gene-editing tools to develop improved crops and plant-based ingredients, most famously Calyno, a high-oleic soybean cooking oil made for restaurants and food manufacturers. It began in 2010 as Cellectis Plant Sciences, a spin-off of French biotech firm Cellectis built on University of Minnesota research, and renamed itself Calyxt in 2015. The name nods to the calyx, the protective outer layer of a flower bud.
