Microvast Holdings, Inc.
A maker of lithium-ion batteries for big electric vehicles and grid-scale energy storage, Microvast builds the cells, modules and battery packs that power electric buses, heavy-duty trucks and delivery fleets. It was founded in 2006 by chemical engineer Yang Wu, who set out to solve the slow-charging and short-range problems that plagued commercial EVs. The name blends "micro" for the individual people behind the company with "vast" for its global ambitions, and it went public on the stock market in 2021.
