Globalfoundries Inc.
One of the world's largest contract chip manufacturers, GlobalFoundries builds the silicon inside cars, smartphones, and everyday connected devices that other companies design. It was born in 2009 when chip designer AMD spun off its manufacturing arm with backing from Abu Dhabi's investment arm. The "foundries" name nods to the chipmaking trade, and its logo's circles double as both a globe and a silicon wafer.
